THE GIFT OF SPEECH
THE GIFT OF SPEECH
“Prior to our son beginning school we were concerned that he had a speech delay and would struggle to communicate at school. We sent him to The Gift of Speech and had great results! They fostered a warm, caring environment that he LOVED. When he started school the teacher commented on how "mature" he was (we wondered who's kid she was talking about!)”

“My son was diagnosed with Autism and could say a total of 12 to 15 words at age 3, he did not understand concepts nor stay still to understand really anything thoroughly. Thank You to everyone here at The Gift of Speech especially to Tressa who worked with my son, Ethan. I can tell it made a world of difference to bring him here.”

Client Case Study
We invite you to read the story of our client Jayleen ↓
The Backstory
Jayleen had suffered a stroke at the age of 17. She was a high school senior, 4.0 student, captain of her cheerleading team, was able to sing beautifully at church and admitted to various colleges.
When we met Jayleen she was evaluated with deficits in the area of comprehension and expression of language. She was unable to effectively communicate wants and needs. She could not participate in her classes, and required intensive speech language therapy to regain independence with functional communication.
She was referred to The Gift of Speech by her neurologist at UCSF Medical Center, Benioff Children’s Hospital.
Jayleen’s Results
Jayleen and her family worked tirelessly to regain what she had lost.
She was dedicated to her rehabilitation physically and communicatively. Every strategy given in her weekly sessions was taken and practiced with purpose and intention. She came in using a wheelchair and not being able to say much functionally at all.
She walked out of our doors after singing to the entire office.
During the course of therapy, Jayleen was able to return to her classes that she required to gain her high school diploma. She fully regained her ability to communicate functionally, socially and in an academic environment.
Her determination to one day become the child life specialist that helped her at Benioff Children’s Hospital drove her to attend college as she had planned pre-stroke. She put her admittance on hold, and now is successfully attending California State University, Stanislaus. ❤
